Toyota Egypt pays a visit to the Egyptian Food Bank Factory

Cairo – June 2018: within its Corporate Social Responsibility towards the community, Toyota Egypt Group (TEG) team visited the Egyptian Food Bank. The visit was hosted by Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer of the Egyptian Food Bank, Dr. Moez El Shohdi, who escorted them on a tour around the food bank premises and the operating process of the different programs they offer. The tour included EFB packaging factory andTEG team participating in the daily boxes packing that get distributed across Egypt.

Hydrogen could contribute to 20% of CO2 emissions reduction targets by 2050

The Hydrogen Council reveals first-of-a-kind study showing hydrogen’s contribution as a key pillar of the energy transition   Bonn, Germany – 14 November 2017: As global leaders gathered at COP23 in Bonn, Germany, 18 key leaders in their industry verticals, united in the Hydrogen Council coalition, came together to launch first-ever globally quantified vision of the role of hydrogen, developed with support from McKinsey & Company. In addition to being a key pillar in the energy transition, the study shows that hydrogen has the potential to generate US$2.5 trillion worth of business, creating more than 30 million jobs by 2050. The Hydrogen Council sees the potential for hydrogen to power about 10 to 15 million cars and 500,000 trucks by 2030, with many uses in other sectors as well, such as industrial processes and feedstocks, building heating and power, and power generation and storage. Overall, the study predicts that the annual demand for hydrogen could increase tenfold by 2050 to almost 80 exajoules (EJ) in 2050, meeting 18% of total final energy demand in the 2050 two-degree scenario. At a time when global populations are expected to grow by two billion people by 2050, hydrogen technologies have the potential to create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.        

Home one-two for Toyota GAZOO Racing in WEC’s round 7

Fuji’s win coincides with ‎20th anniversary weekend of Prius’ launch ‎ Toyota GAZOO Racing earned a one-two finish at its home race following an eventful and rain-affected 6 Hours of Fuji, the seventh round of the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). In the #8 TS050 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), Sébastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson, and Kazuki Nakajima won their third race of the season – Toyota’s fifth victory in six events at Fuji Speedway.   The win with the 1,000-hp TS050 hybrid electric vehicle comes at a special time in the history of HEV technology, as it coincides with the 20th anniversary weekend of the launch of the Prius, the world’s first mass-produced hybrid electric car.

Toyota and Global Institute for Motor Sport Safety launch 4-year joint research project using THUMS virtual human model

Toyota Motor Corporation and the Global Institute for Motor Sport Safety (Global Institute) have launched a four-year research project using Toyota’s Total Human Model for Safety (THUMS) with the aim of enhancing safety in motorsports. The Global Institute is the safety research partner of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body of world motorsports. THUMS is used for a wide variety of purposes by automobile manufacturers, parts manufacturers, and universities, both in Japan and overseas. It contributes to research on safety technologies not just at Toyota, but also by organizations all over the world. The ultimate desire of a mobile society is to advance towards the goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and injuries.

In less than a year, we’ll have a flying car soaring the skies!

Meet Skydrive: the flying car by a startup called Cartivator scheduled to take flight in 2018. With the continuous moto of “always improving”, Toyota takes improvement to a whole new level by investing in this project with many engineers from Toyota. The one-seater flying car will be ready to light the torch in the Olympics 2020 in Tokyo. Being the world’s smallest flying car, Skydrive will be able to take off from any public road and fly up to 33 feet above the ground. Cartivator are planning to launch it for consumer sales in 2023. In a few years, you can actually own a flying car!

The all-new Toyota C-HR: winner of top five-star rating in Euro NCAP safety testing

The all-new Toyota C-HR has secured the top five-star rating in independent Euro NCAP safety testing. On top of offering excellent occupant protection in case of an accident, the model also obtained very good results in active safety. The C-HR achieved an excellent 95 per cent score for overall adult occupant protection; 77 per cent for child occupants; 76 per cent for pedestrian protection performance; and 78 per cent for safety assist performance. In its report, Euro NCAP commended the new C-HR for its good result in the frontal offset test and for achieving maximum points in both the side barrier test and the more severe side pole impact. The Toyota C-HR’s crash test performance reflects the fundamental strength of its Toyota New Global Architecture-based platform and body, which make good use of strategic reinforcements and use of high-strength steels to absorb and channel impact forces away from the cabin. Celebrating a double win at 2017 Middle East Car of the Year Awards

Toyota has once again achieved success in the 2017 Middle East Car of the Year (MECOTY) awards, the biggest and most prestigious awards program for the regional automotive sector. The Toyota Prius bagged the ‘Future of Motoring’ special category award, while the Toyota Fortuner was named the ‘Best Midsize SUV’. The winners were chosen by a jury of 15 independent motoring journalists from leading automotive publications throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Helping to mitigate the environmental effects of automobiles has long been a priority for Toyota. Based on the stance that environmentally-friendly vehicles can only truly have a significant positive impact if they are widely used, Toyota has encouraged the mass-market adoption of hybrid vehicles across the globe. Toyota launched Prius ? the world’s first mass-produced hybrid passenger vehicle ? in December 1997. Since then, Toyota hybrid vehicles (HV) have received tremendous support from consumers around the world. What makes the Prius particularly innovative is the presence of two power sources in the form of the sophisticated electric motor and petrol engine. Toyota GAZOO Racing Wins at Silverstone

In a race defined by several rain showers, the #8 TS050 Hybrid of Sébastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima earned victory inside the final 15 minutes in front of 50,200 spectators (weekend figure). As well as the usual winners' trophies, the #8 crew also claimed the Royal Automobile Club International Tourist Trophy, first awarded in 1905 and won by motorsport legends such as Tazio Nuvolari, Graham Hill and Stirling Moss. The pole-sitting #7 TS050 Hybrid of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López set the fastest lap of the race but lost over an hour due to an accident and finished 23rd.
